This set cracks me up. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite Christmas movies, and this set had me at the Cousin Eddie jokers. RV and all. Honestly? You don't need to buy holiday racks. If you already own red or green racks, pull them out. They make a great holiday add-on. My personal opinion is that you should get racks you can play with year round. My favorite holiday rack is one of those: Middle & Main Mahjong's Milk Glass racks, solid white acrylic with a scalloped edge. They work all year, and they're so fun to pull out at the holidays.
Scalloped, white, clear and pearlescent racks are neutral enough for any season, and they still bring a little playfulness and fun to a holiday table. My Fair Mahjong's Pearl White racks have that shimmer. If you'd like to really get themed out, holiday racks are an option too. Hip Hip Mahjong's Santa Baby racks are one example.

How to style a Christmas mahjong table
- Match your mahjong table to your holiday style. Are you a more-is-more person, or do you keep things simple? If your holiday decor leans sophisticated or traditional, go for a tartan plaid or a traditional pattern mat. If you decorate on the brighter side, look at pastel and bright mats. They'll fit right in with the rest of your holiday decor.
- Go beyond red and green. Don't count out tile colors that aren't traditional holiday colors. Oh My Mahjong Gatsby is a deep teal navy set, and it looks great on the Oh My Mahjong Winterberry mat. Love pink tiles? Oh My Mahjong Amara is so pretty on the Oh My Mahjong Clara mat, with its hot pink border. Simply pick a mat that has your tile color in it. Shop the mats that match your tiles.

Can I build a holiday look without buying Christmas tiles or a Christmas mat?
Yes! Mats with a mostly green or red colorway, or a plaid pattern, make great holiday mats, and they play year round too. The ones that come to mind are Sunday Mahjong Rattan, Oh My Mahjong Liberty (retired), Luxe Mahjong's Polo Club and Oh My Mahjong Dapper. Pair one with neutral tiles or a set you already own, then bring in the Christmas with your styling: a tablecloth, a centerpiece of holiday greenery, a fun lamp or a dice dish. Pull colors from things you already have. That's what I did last year: I played Oh My Mahjong Heritage on the Dapper mat with walnut racks, a little burlap-wrapped evergreen tree, brass coasters and a brass lamp that felt a little dressed up for the holidays. It looked great.
